SXSW Registration Open Now
CIMA will be returning to SXSW 2019 with a few changes in store, however, our annual Canadian Blast BBQ and showcases will continue at Canada House. It will take place on Wednesday (date), exact times and location TBA. This year we’ll be expanding the BBQ to include new partners, and more artists. Application coming this week. FIRST, be sure you have applied directly to SXSW (details and links below). CIMA and partners will also be hosting Canada House through the Thursday at SXSW this year. More details to come but if you are interested in these lucrative 2nd play opportunities at SXSW, you must apply direct to the festival and be accepted.
Showcase applications:
Early Bird Deadline: Sept. 13 (application fee is $35)
Final Deadline: October 25 (application fee raised to $55 after Sept 13 deadline)
All applicants notified on or before January 18 by SXSW.

Music Export Canada Updates
Incoming Missions: CIMA will be organizing two incoming missions this fall and early into the new year. The first will take place surrounding Indie Week from November 5-10 and will focus closely on incoming French delegates and the Franco-Ontarian market. The second mission will take place in January 2019 (dates TBC) and will focus on the Eastern European market. More details to be announced at the end of September.

Music Export Canada Presents: Canada House at Reeperbahn Festival 2018
CIMA returns to Hamburg and Berlin, Germany this September for the 2018 edition of the Reeperbahn Festival!
Canada House showcases will take place on Thursday September 20 and Friday September 21 at Kukuun (Spielbudenplatz 21-22 20359, Hamburg). The two days of showcases will feature 24 Canadian acts.

Canadian Music Café to Host 10-Year Anniversary Event Next Week
Presenting the boldest, brightest, and freshest talent in the Canadian music industry, The Canadian Music Café, presented by the Canadian Music Publishers Association and the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) announces their official line-up for their milestone 10-year edition.
Taking place on September 10th & 11th, The Café will be held at the popular entertainment venue, The Rec Room at Toronto’s Historic Roundhouse (255 Bremner Boulevard), just a ten minute walk from all things TIFF and festival street. TIFF badge-holders welcome.

We’ll be hosting a full afternoon of great Canadian music once again this year as the Canadian Blast showcase returns to INDO (632 Fogg St) on Saturday, September 15 from 12:00PM-6:00PM and will feature 8 exciting Canadian artists.

Apply Now: CIMA’s Mission to AmericanaFest UK 2019
This January, CIMA will be conducting our first-ever Business and Showcase Mission to AmericanaFest UK in London, UK. Held on January 29-31, 2019 AmericanaFestUK is a two-day conference, awards show and music festival with live Americana music from the US, Austria, Spain, Denmark, the UK and more.
This opportunity is currently open to 6 Canadian artists who are export-ready and fit the Americana genre. Each artist must have an on-site business representative at AmericanaFest UK to attend the conference and participate in the business events/meetings.
The deadline to apply is: Friday, October 12, 2018.

Nominees for the WCMA’s Announced
The Western Canadian Music Alliance has announced the artists and members of the music industry who have been nominated in the 2018 categories. The winners will be honoured this fall at BreakOut West in Kelowna, BC which takes place from October 10-14. Voting is now open to members until May 16.

Have you always wanted to showcase during Halifax Pop Explosion? Now’s your chance! Applications have officially opened for the 2018 edition.
